She was born June 11, 1921 in Seattle, Washington. June attended Stadium High School in Tacoma, Washington and the University of Washington in Seattle. At the University of Washington, she was a member of the Gamma Delta Sorority and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Home Economics.
June married John Pence, her college sweetheart, on August 10, 1946 after he was discharged from the Army in World War II. June and John had two children, Jack and Jone, to whom June devoted much of her love and devotion. It was John, her husband, however, who she loved dearly and missed every day since his passing in 2006.
Although June was the perfect wife and mother, she made time over the years to participate in numerous community organizations. Her involvement included, Rotary Anns, P.E.O. Chapter MC, Ventura Assistance League, Ventura Yacht Club, Swedish Club, and the Ventura Stamp Club.
June will always be remembered for her abundant energy and love for her friends and her family. June, also, was a prolific gardener growing beautiful flowers wherever she was. Since John’s passing, June resided with her daughter, Jone, in Ventura who soon became her best friend and caregiver. June loved hearing the latest news of her grandsons, Garrett, Evan, and Clayton, and her great grandchildren, Andy, Sullivan, and Camelia, who all live nearby in Los Angeles and San Diego Counties.
June is survived by her two children, three grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, as well as her brother, John Larson of Alamo, California, and her sister, Phyllis Cleveland of Seattle, Washington.
