

Karthik was a Petty Officer and Construction Electrician in the United States Navy, serving three deployments oversees, two of which in Afghanistan. Prior to his service in the Navy, Karthik achieved a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Periyar University, India, and a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Fairleigh Dickenson University, N.J.
Trained as a classical singer in Sanskrit, Karthik also loved Tae Kwon Do and even achieved a Grey Belt in Marine Corps Martial Arts. Karthik was known as an entertainer and a serious hard worker to his fellow Seabees, embodying the ethos “Can Do”.
Karthik is survived by his loving wife of 6 years, Alana Katz Vardhan of Port Hueneme; father Varadarajan Ranganathan of India; and brother Ashwin Kumar Varadarajan of India.
Visitation will take place at Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura, from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 3, 2012, with services beginning at 2:00 P.M. United States Navy will render full military honors.
