Born in Ensanada, Mexico, July 27th, 1932, to Arthur and Clara Ortega. Leonard was the forth of eight children. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather and friend. Leonard will be missed by his loving family.
Leonard served his Country during the Korean War, and he was honorably discharged from the Army after active duty overseas. He then joined the Ventura County Fire Department and served the citizens of Ventura County for 27 years.
He was well known for his commitment to training and service to the public, he retired from the Fire District in 1988 as a Fire Captain.
Leonard loved his family, he loved camping, going on long walks with his beloved wife “Angie” and he loved to work around the house and he loved to eat good food.
Leonard is preceded in death by his wife Angie, his brother Alvino, and three of his sisters. He is survived by his brother Arthur, Sisters, Carolyn and Juanita, and children, Vincent and Andrew (wife Jill) and grand children, Andrew Jr, Alicia Payan (Husband Adam), Amy Ortega; and great-grand children, Aaron and Aidan Payan.
A viewing service will be held May 1, 2013 at 5:30-7:30 pm, the funeral service will be held at 10:00 May 2, 2013 at Charles Carroll Funeral Home in Ventura.
