Lisa Marie Rupp was born on January 23, 1963, to the Glen Newbury and Frances “Frankie” Newbury, in Kirkland Washington. She passed away on August 14, 2016, at the all too young age of 53 in Ventura. Lisa required emergency brain surgery last week that she never recovered from. Fortunately her many close friend and relatives were able to spend time with her these last few days to say their last goodbyes. Lisa was a strong and generous woman of many talents.
Lisa and her husband, Kevin Rupp were introduced by her best friend Kathlene O’Donnell, 16 years ago. After a whirlwind romance he proposed to her in Paris and they were inseparable thereafter. They were married at the San Buena Ventura Mission Church shortly after their initial meeting. Kevin and their combined family of 4 children enjoyed her sunny nature for 16 very good years. Lisa treasured her many close friends that have been a great support for her family through these difficult days. She was an exceptional chef and had trained at the Cordon Blue in Paris. Lisa often entertained and her many friends have especially happy memories of her dinner parties and trips she organized to New Orleans, Jamaica and outside concerts at the Arboretum in Arcadia.
Lisa moved to Ventura County in grade school and lived here for most of her life. She graduated from Ventura High School, attended Ventura College and UC Santa Barbara. Lisa had always worked beginning at a young age and held many different jobs but was most proud of her work for 20 years as a Non Profit Fundraiser. She was a Vice President of Development at Santa Barbara Visiting Nurse and Hospice and various other Non Profit Organizations and often in only a year’s time was able to double their charitable budgets because of personal skills and her unique fundraising programs.
She is survived by her husband Kevin Rupp; four children, Nicholas Fiano, Mia Fiano, John Rupp and David Rupp; brother, Michael Newbury and his wife, Debbie of Camano Island, WA; sisters, Virginia (Ginny) Chapman of Ventura, Christine Hesse and husband William Hesse of Caliente, CA. Additionally she had a brother David Newbury who tragically died when he was 5 years old. Lisa was a loving and devoted wife and generous mother. We all miss her greatly.
