Lorine T. Neuman, 99, passed away peacefully on December 17, 2013. Born Tommye Lorine Shockley in Cairo, IL on June 29, 1914, she also lived in MO, KY, and Denver, with her parents Lona Edna, and Thomas Franklin, Shockley, then moved to Chicago in 1926 where she met and married husband Bob in 1935 at the Albany Park Baptist Church. In 1941, Lorine, Bob, and sons Bob Jr. and Jim, moved to Los Angeles where son Dan was born. In 1951 the family moved to Whittier, and joined the First Baptist Church where she was a long-time Sunday School teacher and active participant in all church activities. Lorine was the quintessential homemaker, but also a talented watercolor artist receiving a scholarship to the Chicago Art Institute after HS. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and best friend to all who entered her life. She suffered the tragic loss of son Dan in an automobile accident in 1979, while husband Bob died after a lengthy illness in 1985. She is survived by sons Bob Jr., and Jim, daughters-in-law Pat Neuman and Kathy Atkins, grandsons Jon and Scott (Bob Jr. and Kathy), and Robert (Dan), and step-granddaughters Kathi and Julie (Pat). A graveside service will be held at 1:30 pm , Saturday, January 4, 2014, Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier, CA.
