Mariko Mari Shimoda

Mariko Shimoda passed away peacefully, at home, Monday July 29, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was 91. Mariko was born August 27, 1921 in Ventura, California but lived most of her life in Santa Barbara; graduating from Santa Barbara High School. She enjoyed gardening, tennis and painting but her most favorite thing in life, was spending time with her grandchildren. Mariko was a kind, sweet and loving woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mariko was preceded in death by her husband Masaharu Shimoda, brother Kenji Morihisa and sister-in-law Machiko Morihisa.

She now leaves behind her brother Shoji Morihisa; her children: Naomi Lane, Yasuko (husband Bob) Cook, Michio (wife Carla) Shimoda and Noriyuki (wife Takako) Shimoda. 9 grandchildren: Yuki, Maki, Rob, Jasmine, Autumn, Leilani, Daniel, Masashi and Eriko; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A private gathering will be hosted by her children.
