Mark Dimant
July 16, 1928 – March 26, 2013
Mark Dimant, 84, of Oxnard, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He faced this challenge as he had faced many other challenges in his life with strength and courage. Mark was a Holocaust survivor having been liberated from Gunskirchen Lager in May of 1945, by the 71st Division of the United States Army. Mark was born July 16, 1928, in Lodz, Poland, to Aron and Sara Dimant. He had been a resident of Oxnard for the past twenty-one years moving here from Encino, and was a member of Temple Beth Torah in Ventura. Mark was a Manufacturer’s Representative for a women’s clothing company for fifty years, retiring in 1998. He was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force after serving three years during the Korean War. He enjoyed the outdoors and especially enjoyed sailing and skiing. Mark is survived by his wife of 56 years, Phyllis; daughters, Deborah Remer (Allen), Alexandra Feldman (Jeff), and Kim Hydorn; grandchildren Ariel, Yehuda, Ezra, Itta, Deena, Joshua, Jeremy, Emma and Hannah; great grandchildren, Bella, Noa, Hannah, Asher, Dov and Dahlia, plus one on the way! Services for Mark will be held Friday, March 29, 2013, 9:30 A.M. at Temple Beth Torah, 7620 Foothill Road, Ventura, with Rabbi Lisa Hochberg-Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd.,Ventura. Memorial donations may be made in Mark’s memory to your charity of choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
