
Mary was an Administrative Assistant in the Nursing Department at Ventura College for 22 years, and also worked part time as a secretary at Ted Mayr Funeral Home in Ventura for many years.
In her early years Mary enjoyed ballet and danced in pointe shoes. In 1984 she volunteered at Lake Casitas for the Romanian Olympic Rowing Team. Mary enjoyed cooking and had won “Best of Show – Baked Goods” at the Ventura County Fair in 1999. She also enjoyed sewing, reading, art and drawing. Her family and friends will remember fondly her keen sense of humor. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and was attending Padre Serra Church in Camarillo until she became too ill to participate.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Katy Lyon of Camarillo and Christy Lyon of Williston, South Carolina; granddaughter, Amelia Hott of Camarillo; brothers, Dennis Peters of Houston, Texas, Gene Tiezzi and Edward Tiezzi; sister, Vera Titus; nieces and nephews, Shawn and Jory Beckert, Mike, Steve and Dan Peters, Ron McCuen and Jill McCuen Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carol and Eugenio and her sisters, Virginia McCuen, Aileen Beckert and Nancy Odneal.
Catholic Services will take place Monday, January 16, 2017, 11:00 AM, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura, with The Reverend Patrick Perez officiating. Burial will follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
