

Miss Rentfrow was born December 30, 1924, in Springfield, Missouri, and had been a Ventura County resident for over 60 years, coming from San Diego.
Miss Rentfrow was an educator for 45 years, last working as a substitute in 2004 in the Ventura Unified School District. She also worked in business for seven and one-half years as an administrative secretary for the United States Army and Air Force.
Miss Rentfrow was a graduate of the University of Arizona and received her Master’s Degree in counseling from Arizona State University. She attended U.C.L.A in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara, the United States International University in LaJolla, San Diego State University, the University of Southern California and Fresno State University. She held two administrative credentials, one a life credential, and also held a life credential for teaching grades seven through fourteen. She was an honorary member of the Pi Omega Pi Sorority. Miss Rentfrow received three scholarships in voice which she studied for ten years.
During her life, Miss Rentfrow taught grades five through thirteen, was a counselor, administrator, coach for physical education and drama, and a librarian for middle school. She initiated an in-service program in Escondido, and in the Ventura Unified School District. She also wrote a curriculum for Shakespeare which she taught for several years.
Miss Rentfrow played tennis, the piano, danced on skates, swam, hiked and bowled. She loved dancing and took dance lessons in ballet and contemporary dancing. She was an avid reader and writer. She enjoyed traveling having traveled to virtually every state in America, and to England, Europe, Scandinavia, Ireland, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Canada and Mexico. She supported many endeavors during her lifetime including E. P. Foster Library, The Rubicon Theater and Ventura Music Festival. She was a contributor to student scholarships at Ventura High School. Miss Rentfrow personally established a scholarship at the University of Arizona in her mother's name as well as establishing a laboratory for cancer research at the University and established a doctor's lounge at Sarver Heart Center.
Miss Rentfrow is survived by her great-nephew Richard Clayton and his wife Rene'e of Wasilla, Alaska; great-nephew Raymond Clayton and his wife Debbie of Anchorage, Alaska, and great-niece, Roberta Angela Clayton, also of Anchorage, Alaska. She was preceded in death by her father, Archie C. Rentfrow in 1952, her beloved mother, Clara Mabel Rentfrow in 1986, her sister, Jane Analee Redmon in 1978, her brother Clyde E. Rentfrow in 1956 and her other sister Corrine Therrian in 2001.
Services will be held Sunday, April 27, 3:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Miss Rentfrow will be buried next to her parents in Mt. Hope Cemetery, San Diego.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home.
