Mary M. Shaffer, 89, of Oak View, passed away on Friday, May 17, 2013. She was born February 3, 1924, in Mt. Vernon, Texas, to Alfred H. Tatum and Ada (Smith) Tatum and had been a Ventura County resident for the past sixty-six years.
Mary was employed thirty years with the Ojai Valley School District in the Food Services Department as a nutritionist. She was a member of the American Legion of Ojai and the Oak View Women’s Club.
She is survived by her husband of seventy years, Stillman C. Shaffer of Oak View; daughter, Georgia Tobey of Henderson, Nevada; son, Jerel Shaffer of Houston, Texas; three grandchildren and six great -great grandchildren.
Services for Mary will be private.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
