Mary Glenn Snyder was called home to be with our Lord in Heaven Saturday, October 29, 2016, after a lengthy illness. Mary was born in Atlanta, GA in 1934. Wed the love of her life Wayne Perkins Snyder in 1952, moved to California in 1956 and enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Mary was a wonderful kindhearted woman who worked in the Food Service Profession, but her main passion in life was Family and helping children of broken homes. Between her and her husband they raised four biological children, adopted four children as well as fostering over 300 children. Mary and her husband had such a wonderful influence and effect on all of these foster children that to this day many of them would come back to visit and express their appreciation for everything they did for them and the positive effect they had on their lives.
If raising that many children was not enough she found time for her passion for crocheting, gloves, hats scarves, blankets and booties which we all cherish receiving at Christmas and Birthdays. She was also quite a hit at every baby shower with all those beautifully made layettes and blankets. She loved going to the Bingo Halls with her family and friends. Mary held wonderful parties at her home with lots of family and dedicated friends of over 50 years.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, Mallard Austin Haynes, mother, Ila B. Blankenship, and daughter, Deborah June Rodriguez.
She is survived by husband, Wayne P. Snyder of Oak View, CA; son- in-law, Jose Rodriguez of Port Hueneme, CA; daughter, Sharon Denise Mauricio and son-in-law, Richard Mauricio of Oxnard, CA; daughter, Pamela Snyder of Elk Grove, CA; daughter, Tina Layton and son-in-law, Bill Layton of Albany, OR; daughter, Lisa Knight of Reno, NV; son, Michael “Pete” Snyder and daughter-in-law, Geri Snyder of Ventura, CA; son, Jason McMullen and daughter-in-law, Shannon McMullen of Ventura, CA; son, Tom Snyder and daughter-in-law, Keri Snyder of Portland, OR; 17 Grandchildren; and 7 Great Grandchildren.
