

Maxine was born July 26, 1921, in Salt Lake City, Utah to William Gale and Martha Marie (O’Keefe) Clift. Her family came to So. Cal. when she was six years old and she grew up in Alhambra, graduating from Alhambra High School in 1940. She married John Lenard Page on May 31, 1940. They raised their family in Rosemead, moving to Ventura in early 2007.
Maxine was devoted to her family, both immediate and extended. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various capacities throughout her life, mainly in the children’s Primary and women’s Relief Society auxiliaries. She also assisted with her daughters’ Camp Fire Girls and Girl Scout troops. She loved children and worked at a pre-school in San Gabriel after her own children were grown.
Surviving family include daughters, Janet Matheny (James) of Ventura, Marilynn Cripe (Randall)of Swan Valley, ID, Laura Gail Pickup (David), Redondo Beach; son, Paul Page (Delight), Sandy, UT; brothers, Ronald Clift (Mary), Antioch, Thomas Clift (Mary Lou), Vista and Gordon Bybee (Phyllis), Twin Falls, ID; sisters-in-law, Louise Reynolds, Paso Robles and Viola Baisley, Alhambra; grandchildren, Jerry Cripe (Janalee) and Heather Wrench (Michael) of Hemet, Justin Page (Jodi), Mesa, AZ, Candice, J.J. and Joshua Page of Sandy, UT, Samuel Pickup, Redondo Beach, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, their infant son, John Page, Jr., her brothers, Donald Clift and Wayne Clift, and her sisters, Helen Fotia, Lora Gibson and Frances Kohut.
The family wishes to thank the staff of The Venturan, under the direction of Brett Watson, who lovingly cared for our mother for the last four years. Thanks also to the staff at CMH who gave her excellent care in her final week.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the American Heart Association.
Services will be held Thursday, July 12, 11:00 A.M. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 150 W. Duarte Rd., Arcadia, with a viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park, 3888 Workman Mill Rd., Whittier.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura.
