

Mildred Gillen Fitch, 100, of Ventura, passed away on March 2, 2016, following a brief illness. She was born on July 21, 1915, in Salt Lake City to Enoch and Hilda Gillen. Mildred grew up on a small farm in Oasis, Utah, graduated from Hinckley High School and moved to California to live with two of her aunts and continue her education at Ventura Junior College.
After a short courtship she married, George N. Fitch, Jr. in 1936 and raised her family, George III, Deon and Nikki in Ventura. Mildred was active in her church and served as a volunteer/leader for the Cub Scouts, Job's daughters and the Ventura County Medical Center gift shop for many years.
In the late 1950’s she completed her education, obtained a position at Ventura County Juvenile Hall and retired as a Senior Group Supervisor. She enjoyed her arts and crafts, grandchildren and assisting others.
Mildred is survived by her children, George III (Kiyoko), Deon (Fionna) and Nikki Jump (John, deceased in 2007)); her sister, Wilma Cowley of Meadow, UT; seven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren with one on the way; and four great, great, grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-three years; two brothers, Deon and Elmo; and two sisters, Beryl Sorensen and Carol Swenson.
Mildred was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and role model and will be missed by all.
A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, April 21, 2016, 2:00 pm, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, in Ventura, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating.
