

Myrtis Lorainne Rose, 91, of Ventura, CA passed away peacefully in her home with loved ones surrounding her on Sunday, May 11th 2014. Myrtis was born on Oct. 31st 1922 in Berkley, CA to Josephine and Theodore Bassford. She led a very active life with her family, friends and her church community. Myrtis and Jack got married on Oct 17th 1947. They started their family shortly after. Myrtis is survived by her son, Ted and his wife Terri; daughter, Tina and her husband Ron; son, Rick as well as her son-in-law, Roy. She has 6 grandchildren, Chris and his lady Jennifer and Aiden, John, Lorena and her husband Michael, Kai, Jessica and Jake. Myrtis has 3 great-grandchildren, Christal, Shayla and Selah. She also had 1 great-great grandchild, Belicia. And not to be forgotten were her sweet grand dogs who she loved so much: Oscar, Coda, Lucy, Sasha, Mason, Jagger and Maggie.
The family would like to thank her wonderful doctors Dr. Andrew Kerr, Dr. Todd Yates and Dr. Thomas Kong for their excellent and compassionate care. We would also like to thank Angie and Marsha from Assisted Home Hospice for their loving support for Myrtis and the family.
Services will be held on Monday, May 19th at 10:00am at Charles Carroll Funeral Home located at 15 Teloma Dr. (off Telegraph Rd.) in Ventura, CA. Services will be held by her beloved pastors Bill Gorell and Larry Reichert. Myrtis will be laid to rest next to her husband Jack at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations to South Coast Fellowship’s Food Pantry can be made online at www.SCF.org . Myrtis had a compassionate heart for feeding the hungry.
The family feels that on Mother’s Day the Lord gave her the best gift of all, the gift of taking her home.
