Nick was born on December 15, 1947 in San Francisco, CA. He came to Ventura with his mother and sister after the death of his father, Albert M. Camara on January 20, 1952. His family moved into the Olivas Ranch home of his grandparents and uncles. Nick was always proud of being a member of the historical Olivas Family.
He began his schooling at the San Buenaventura Mission School. After his mother remarried, the family moved to Lomita, CA and then Westminster, CA. During his High School years, he became a surfer and then later a Hippie. Nick kept his long hair and trusting nature through his life. He was a colorful character and die-hard NY Yankees fan who relocated to San Luis Obispo in 1976 and was a Central Coast Resident until his death. He attended Cuesa College and owned a car stereo and baseball card business – Nick and Son in Arroyo Grande, CA.
Nick was preceded in death by his father and mother in 2004. He will be joining his parents, grandparents and an uncle in the Olivas Family plot at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park.
Nick is survived by his son, Nickolas of Bakersfield, CA; his sister, Victoria of Dinuba, CA and his brother John Crookshank and his family – wife Angie and sons, Anthony and Cody of Westminster, CA. He is also survived by Lena Dodgen of Bakersfield, CA his former wife and mother of his son who has been a constant in his life. Lastly, he died with his beloved dog, Teva at his side.
