Our beloved Patty, 88, went to be with the Lord peacefully on Saturday, March 10, 2012, at home in Ventura. Patty was born December 13, 1923, in Gardena, California. She was the daughter of Pearl and Luther Smith. During her early years, she lived in Long Beach, CA. She completed her education at Long Beach Junior College; and met her future husband in the process. A resident of Ventura for 44 years, she will be sincerely missed by her husband of 68 years, Herbert L. Prevost, a retired USAF Colonel, and by her three surviving children, Herb III (Kathy) Prevost, Catherine (David) Stevens, and Paul Prevost, along with seven grandchildren, eight great grandchildren with one on the way, one great-great grandchild as well as countless nieces and nephews. Patty's passing was preceded by son, Bob Prevost, her sister, Molly Bruce Fossey, and her brother H.E. Ray. As the wife of an Air Force Pilot, she was well traveled. Her adventures included (during assignments) California, Washington, North Carolina, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Athens, Greece and The Hague, Netherlands; and finally, settling in Ventura. It took great strength and courage to properly maintain and raise her family while her husband went into combat (WWII, Korea, and Vietnam). Though Patty enjoyed traveling, she preferred spending time with her grandchildren, especially for celebrations. She was a wonderful lady. Patty had a profound, abiding love and faith in God. She always was a beautiful, compassionate, and elegant wife--mother and grandmother. She was known for her quiet style and grace. She is remembered for her love of animals, especially cats, for her lovely garden and roses, her love of reading and knowledge, and for being an exceptional shopper. She will be missed dearly. A Memorial will be held: at 1:00 p.m., Saturday March 24, 2012, Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA, 93003. (805) 642-5754.
