

Perry was born on June 25, 1930 in Flint Michigan to Glyde Marie and John Perry Newton. He grew up on the farm on Swaffer Road in Vassar Michigan where he enjoyed his extended family, attended Elkhorn Country School and Vassar High. After two years at Bay City Junior College he enlisted in the Army for three years and served with the Security Agency in Korea. He then attended Coyne electric in Chicago before going to the University of Houston to earn a degree in Electronic Engineering. He worked part time at the Post Office. Upon graduation in 1957, he was recruited by the Navy at Pt. Mugu, CA where he worked for 36 years.
On December 28,1964 he married Barbara Johnson in Cloquet, Minnesota. They raised their family in Ventura. Perry liked to hunt, fish, golf, camp and travel with family and friends. He wrote many poems and songs about his life experiences. He played the piano, guitar, and banjo and sang in the choir.
His faith was strong as he served in the Methodist, Ventura Missionary, and Baptist churches and went on short term mission trips. He was devoted to family and a loyal humble friend. Perry is survived by his wife Barbara, daughters Vallerie Ladd/David, Gloria Newton, sons. David/Bonnie, John/Jolie,
Jess/Nancy Grandchildren, Cory, Sean, Daniel, Shelley, Christina, Seth. Katie, Eleana. Jacob and 16 great-grandchildren, Brother Dale/Elaine, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Marie and sister Ruth Uhl.
