“A hero is an ordinary individual who finds the strength to persevere and endure in spite of overwhelming obstacles.” We lost our hero on Dec. 22, 2011, following a long hard battle. Rick was born in Seattle, WA, on April 3, 1960, and moved to Carpinteria with his family when he was 16. He met his future wife, Christie, that year and later married her in 1987. Rick and Christie had 3 children together, whom he was so proud of; Carlie Sue, 22, Madeline Rae, 19, and Jackson Richard, 13. He loved his children with all of his heart, and showed that through his teasing and dry sense of humor. His infectious laugh and inappropriate comments are something we will never forget.
His brother, David, and sisters, Kairin and Stacy were loved by him, as was his step father, Ray, and Christie's parents, Ray and MarySue Seider.
Rick's friends and co-workers helped him through his battle in a way that they will never really know. They helped him to briefly forget. Dr. Cameron, his Thoracic Team, and the incredible nursing staff at UCLA will be forever held in awe by our family. Our love and thanks go out to you. We are comforted by the fact that Rick is now finally at peace, pain-free and driving that Maserati that he's always wanted around in heaven!
There will be a Celebration of Life on Jan.14, at the Seabridge Clubhouse, 1420 Seabridge Lane, Oxnard , from 1:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Dr Cameron's research. http://www.phlbi.org/donate/2011_donations.shtml
