

Bob Fisher, 79, born in Bishop, California and currently of Santa Paula, California passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018. The hospital room was filled with love as the entire family gathered around him.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Barry Fisher, Julie, Lori and Wayne Miller; grandchildren, Blake and Lainey Fisher. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Catherine Fisher, son, Scott Fisher, and sister, Ellen Fisher.
Bob attended and graduated from UCLA where he was a member of the UCLA Bruins basketball team under Coach John Wooden, and ran track with his friend, Rafer Johnson. Bob had a long career in education working in many capacities for the Oxnard High School District, Conejo Valley Unified School District and Santa Paula High School District. He retired in 1996 as Superintendent of the Santa Paula High School District, and moved to the Kern River Valley.
His many interests and accomplishments were working for the Forest Service, camping in the High Sierras, fishing, woodworking, reading, remote control airplanes, and telling war stories with his many friends in education. He was a 17 year member of the Kern River Valley Search and Rescue Unit, a docent at the Kern River Valley Historical Society and a member of the Kern Model Aircraft Club.
Special thanks, to the doctors, nurses and all medical care staff of the Ventura County Medical Center, who cared for and treated Bob. The family thanks you all for your kind, compassionate care, not only to Bob but to the entire family. We are forever grateful.
Bob was a true gentleman, loving husband, father and friend. He is deeply missed by all who knew and loved this gentle giant. Remember him as you last knew him.
