Robert Winslow Hansen passed away peacefully at home on Monday, December 9, 2013, and is now in heaven with his parents Ruben and Hazel Hansen and his big brother Richard Hansen. He was born December 6, 1923 and had just celebrated his 90th birthday at a luncheon with the love of his life, wife Betty Jo and his sister, Bettie Luke who he lovingly called Shug.
Robert grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and moved with his family to Ventura in 1946. He was a World War II Veteran with the Air Force and spent 6 years overseas defending our country. After returning he worked at the Port Hueneme Naval Base, civil service. He held many positions over the years and spent many months away from home being sent to the artic, the Antarctic and two trips to Vietnam.
After retiring, he and Betty Jo spent many summers living in their second home in Sequim and Chimacum, WA, where they enjoyed crabbing and fishing and made many lifelong friends. Robert and Betty Jo were married 63 years and had 3 children, Leslie, Robin and Teri. He was not only the best husband; he was the best Dad ever. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, and 5 ½ grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Goodbye Dad. We will always love you and keep you in our hearts.
