Robert Dwight Shelton

Bob was born July 31, 1937, to Otto and Lois Shelton in Ventura, CA. Always a hardworking man he was attending Ventura High School when he started working his first job at the Ventura Auto body and Paint shop for his Uncle Cleo and Aunt Hazel, earning his diploma while mastering a valued trade simultaneously. Bob continued growing and learning all that he could, moving on to work at the family car lot as a mechanic for many years. Bob became a diesel mechanic, and was part owner of Triple S Trucking, and Ventura Petroleum Services. He later sold his portion of the businesses and went to work for the County of Ventura, retiring in 2000.

Bob and his wife were members of the Twin Wheelers Motorcycle Club, Foot Printers, and the Moose Lodge of Ventura for many years. He loved fishing, camping, road trips in his Bronco, and most anything outdoors. He also loved to attend family functions, activities, and sporting events. Bob was a great story teller, he loved to sit on his front porch and tell stories to his children, grandchildren, and more recently his great grandchildren.

Bob is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Ann Shelton; children, Debra and Sheldon Deal of Fair Oaks, Diana and Anthony Osuna of Bakersfield, Dwayne Shelton of Santa Paula, Amanda and Mike Cline of Bakersfield, Cynthia Shelton of Newbury Park, and Donald and Marisa Shelton of Ventura; fifteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brothers, Oliver Shelton with his wife Jan, and Michael Shelton with his wife Tina. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Lois. Bob is loved so much by all of his family and friends; he will truly be missed.

A public visitation will be held on Friday, August 19, 2016, from 5:00 to 9:00 P.M., at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. Services will take place the next day, Saturday, August 20, 2016, 10:00 A.M., in the Ted Mayr Chapel; with interment following at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, Ventura.
