Bob lived in many places throughout his early life; his favorite and most memorable being Medford, Oregon. He had many fond memories of playing high school football and remained in contact with friends from that time in his life. He moved to Ventura with his family and attended Ventura Community College and University of Southern California.
Bob married Dorolyn and they raised two children in Ventura. Bob enjoyed a long and varied career as an architect. He lived in Greece for a year while working on a project for the Saudi Arabian Government and was a consulting architect for the Ronald Reagan Library.
After retiring, Bob continued to use his drafting table to design houses, mainly for family and friends. Bob and Dorolyn moved to Lemonwood in 2002, where Bob actively participated in the community projects and the many social opportunities that were offered. Bob spent much of his time on his front deck cherishing the camaraderie of the many friends who dropped by to enjoy the company and the view.
Bob is survived by wife Dorolyn; daughter Lynn Steele and partner Donna Gorman of Aptos, CA; son Mark Steele and daughter-in-law Kathy Tappero-Steele; grandson Cameron Steele and granddaughter Samantha Steele of Scotts Valley, CA; and sister and brother-in-law Marilyn and Steve Spencer of Florence, Arizona.
The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Murphy for years of excellent care, and the staff of Community Memorial Hospital, particularly the Palliative Care Team of Charles Pankratz, M.D., Diana Jaquez, R.N., Janine Coronado, M.S.W., and Megan Delahanty.
Bob’s wife and children feel fortunate to have had him in their lives for as long as they did and will greatly miss him. An open house/ party will be held at a later date at Lemonwood Mobile Home Park in Ventura to celebrate Bob’s life. Please come and share your memories and stories about Bob.
