Ruth N. Armstrong passed away suddenly February 25, 2011, following a long, well-spirited fight with congestive heart disease.
Ruth was born Oct. 13, 1914 in Paradise, Texas, the sixth of nine children. She eventually moved west and settled in Santa Paula in the 1950s with her husband, George “Trav” Armstrong, who predeceased her. Ruth worked for more than 50 years as a beautician, until she reached 90, in several shops in Santa Paula. She enjoyed a rich life of gardening, cooking and spending time with friends and family. We are sad to have lost “Ma,” but her kindness, generosity and determined spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
Ruth is survived by her sisters, Wanda Reed, and Annis Power, of Texas; and grandchildren, Tisha Eason-Towers, Kim Hardiman, Daryl Eason, Kirk Eason, and Robin Williams; and many nieces, nephews, and numerous friends.
A celebration of Ruth's life will be held 12 p.m., Sunday, March 6, 2011 at the private residence, 209 Eliot St., Santa Paula. Thank you to all who loved her. Life's greatest gifts are the memories we lovingly share.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory, 3150 Loma Vista Rd., Ventura. Condolences may be left at www.tedmayrfuneralhome.com.
