Sandra graduated Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma and then attended Tulsa University.
She married her high school sweetheart, Samuel G. Black on May 12, 1955, and they were married for 57 years. They made their residency in Ventura for 50 years moving from Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents, Archie W. Luper and Helen Hansen and step father, Arthur Hansen.
She is survived by her loving husband, Samuel Black; sister, Arlyne McCoy of Ventura, who Sandra so enjoyed her meals and nurturing care of others; brother, Ken Luper of Ventura; son Brian Black of Ventura; daughter Debbie Higginbotham and her husband Roger of Wilkinson, WA; grandsons David (Sarah) and Jacob of Bonney Lake, WA; great grandsons Justin and Chase and great granddaughter Isabella of Bonney Lake, WA, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Sandra lived life to the fullest spending time with family, especially family gatherings, holidays and her favorite, cooking for the Thanksgiving holiday. She also treasured spending time with many close friends.
Her favorite past times and activities were tennis, bridge, crossword puzzles, reading of literature, traveling on numerous cruises, cooking, gardening and watching her favorite sport team the LA Lakers.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 17th, 2:00 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ted Mayr Funeral Home and Crematory.
