Steve Franklin Murphree, 64, of Ojai, died suddenly on Monday, September 3, 2012. He was born on February 8, 1948, in Santa Monica to Clive F. and Julia “Judy” E. (Stephens) Murphree. Steve had been a resident of Ventura County for 18 years moving from Marina Del Rey.
Steve was the Facility Project Manager for the past sixteen years with the County of Ventura’s Humane Service Agency.
He loved nature and was an avid outdoorsman. Caring for his horses, chickens and dogs brought Steve great pleasure. He also enjoyed playing poker and darts.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Cindy Murphree of Ojai; mother, Judy Murphree of Ventura; sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Gary Hansen of Ventura; sons, David Murphree of Alabama, Rick Murphree of Idaho and Sean Murphree of Irvine; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
