Alois Schnyder November 24, 1930 - August 14, 2019

Alois Schnyder passed away peacefully at Vernon Jubilee Hospital at age 88 with his family at his side.

He was born in Vals, Switzerland and at age 21 immigrated to Canada to work with his Uncle who was operating a sawmill at Harris Creek, Lumby. Ursula arrived 3 years later and they were married. After his retirement, hiking, biking, downhill skiing and cross country skiing consumed most of his days. His tenacity, drive and competitive spirit won him many trophys and awards. Al was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Outdoors Club, Swiss Club and Sovereign Lake X-Country Ski Club.

Al is survived by loving wife of 64 years, Ursy; children: Mark (Sue), Helen (Craig), and Paul; grandchildren: Jennifer, Trevor (Mandy), Teressa (Dennis), Gregory (Melissa), and Kristine (Tyson), Geoffrey Schnyder, Jamie (Dana) Schnyder; great-grandchildren: Sophie, Eiley, Lance, Colton, Lucas, Alex, and Ryker.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. James Catholic Church on August 27, 2019 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow at the Parish Center.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation.
