Benjamin Robert Procter

1933 - 2011

Bob passed away at his home in Lavington on Tuesday, September 27th, 2011, doing what he loved,

preparing his truck for the fall and winter season of hunting and fishing.

Bob began his working life horse logging with his father at Mabel Lake - the

onset of his work as a logging contractor. Bob thoroughly enjoyed his work, often

speaking of the spectacular scenery, the scent of the freshly sawn wood, and the

people he worked with.

He never complained of the long hours, always taking the time to photograph many

sunrises and sunsets, the wildfl owers, and wildlife he encountered to and from

work.

Bob was very pleased and proud to have all 3 of his sons working with him at one

time. Over the years many novice loggers honed their skills under his watchful

eye.

Bob’s skills were also demonstrated at a forestry technical school in Samarinda,

Indonesia, where he was a popular instructor. Besides his passion for work, hunting

and fi shing, over the years he also enjoyed fl ying his plane, playing the guitar,

photography, and backpacking with his mules and horse.

He also enjoyed traveling and over the years travelled to South America, Africa,

Australia, the Mediterranean Countries, India, and Nepal, with many side trips to his

old stomping grounds, Samarinda.

Of all the things Bob loved, he cherished most the times spent with his granddaughters:

Ashlee, Bobbi Lee, Maria, and Sandy Lou. He was doubly blessed to have

time to spend with his great-grandchildren: Jaxson Janes and Kailee McKinnon.

Bob was born at Mabel Lake at home to Benjamin and Alberta Procter, with his

grandmother Hanna Procter as the midwife. He was predeceased by his parents,

his sister Joan Biggar, and very sadly, his third son, Andrew, in 1995.

Bob is survived by his wife, Gladys; his sons, Benjamin, David (Cindy) and his

daughter, Shelley; granddaughters: Ashlee (Albert Janes), Bobbi Lee ( Curtis

McKinnon), Maria, and Sandy Lou; his great-grandchildren: Jaxson Janes and

Kailee McKinnon; many cousins; good friends and hunting and fi shing buddies.

Bob is also survived by his two sisters, Audrey (Ken Russell) and Doreen Marks.

Bob was loved and cherished by his family and will be deeply missed.

The funeral service and reception will be held on Monday, October 3rd, 2011 at

11:00 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom of the Best Western Vernon Lodge, 3914-32nd

Streeet, Vernon, BC

If friends so desire, memorial contributions in memory of Bob may be directed to a

charity of personal choice.
