David was born in England on August 29, 1940 and moved to Canada in May of 1955. He loved to travel and particularly enjoyed taking bus tours to casinos to play the one-armed bandits. He also enjoyed driving and spent many years working as a limo driver then as an airport shuttle driver until he retired at age 65. He loved to be around people and would tell some amazing stories to whoever would lend an ear. He had a great love for his family and friends and treated strangers like friends within minutes of meeting. David took everything in stride, never complained even during the worst of his sickness and lived his life day by day. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and friend to many.
David is predeceased by his first wife Lorna Bate, his mother Elizabeth Bate, his father James Bate and his sister Marie Bryden. He is survived by his wife Shirley Bate, daughters Valerie Colville (Garth) and Alicia Diebert (Zach), grandson Haddo Diebert and many many nieces and nephews.
He will surely be missed by everyone whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
