Ray was born in Vernon and spent the majority of his 82 years in the Lumby area including childhood homesteads in the hills above Lumby and the Kedleston area. Ray worked as a saw filer for 30 years at the Weyerhaeuser mill property in Lumby. Many good times were had rescuing people out of mudholes with his winch and trusty old red ford as well as searching for secret lakes that the “big one” could be hiding in! He enjoyed driving the many logging roads in search of huckleberries and firewood with his family.
He leaves behind his wife Dawn, children Donald Cover, Debbie Cover (Dominique), Laurie Rawlek (Ritchie), Heather Dutcher (David) and his grandchildren Tracy (Vince), Amber (Eric), Jeremy (Lauren), Melanie (Kevin), Kyle, Brenten (Shelby), Perry, Ryan (Karinna), Sidney (Mittchell) and his great grandchildren Émil, Anna, Isaäc, Everest, Rauri, Maeva, Raegan, Jameson, Macy, Nash, his sister Marjorie French, brother Darwin Cover (Fuji), many nieces and nephews and his ice fishing buddy Tony Gutenberg. He was predeceased by his father Fernando (Ferd) Cover and his mother Verna as well as his step father Engel Ganzeveld and brother Jerry.
In memory of Grandpa, we will be sure to pass down the humorous riddles and jokes for the future generations. No service is to be held at the request of Gorgeous George.
