

It is with regret that I must report that I have departed on my last flight (peacefully) to that Big Hangar in the sky. Predeceased by my wife Rosalie in 2004, parents: George Stanley Dawe, and Marjorie E. Dawe; sisters: Lynette Stewart, Barbara Melling and Kay Salter; and brother Arthur Dawe.
Left to mourn my passing are my daughters: Dr. Elizabeth Dawe of Toronto ON, Marlene Madole (Bruce) of Brampton ON, and Geraldine (Mike) Lynch of Glendon AB; sister Sharon Dawe of Vernon BC. Grandsons: Richard (Elizabeth) Kotowicz of Cold Lake AB, William Kotowicz of Edmonton AB, David (Rosie) Kotowicz of Edmonton AB. Great-grandchildren: Johnathan, Dawson, Abigail, Linkin, Mila and Lara. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins, both in Canada and UK, and special friend Joanne Taylor of Vernon BC.
I was born in Vernon in 1931, living in the BX area until I joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1949. Spent 31 years in RCAF / CAF as a Flight Engineer on many different aircraft. Stationed from coast to coast to coast and did many trips around the world, including flights in support of NATO, UN, and International Red Cross. Upon retiring from the Air Force in 1980, I was employed for 24 years as an instructor on aircraft systems, for Pilots and Flight Engineers, flight simulator instructor and maintenance training for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers. Employed by Pacific Western Airlines, Northwest Territorial Airways (NWT Air), First Air and contract training to other aircraft companies. When with NWT Air, I flew Hercules aircraft in Angola Africa in support of the International Red Cross. Member at large of Royal Canadian Air Force Association of Canada, Member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #25, and Army Navy Air Force Veterans Unit #5.
Celebration of my life will be held at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2025 at 11am.
At the conclusion, refreshments will be served, where you are all are encouraged to tell great stories of flying.
Interment will be at the Vernon Cemetery next to my wife Rosalie.
