Glen Robert Butcher

July 7, 1952February 1, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Glen Robert Butcher, on February 1st, 2021 at the age of 68. Glen was born on July 7th, 1952 in North Bay, Ontario to Glen and Mildred Butcher. At the age of 11, he moved to Freeport on Grand Bahama Island where he lived until the age of 18. He spent the next 2 years travelling across Canada and the USA until he met his wife, Marge in Upland, California. In 1978 they moved to Vernon, BC where they later married and raised their three children. Glen will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 48 years, Marge; children: Dawn (Scott), Glen, Robert (Amber); grandchildren: Linden, Liam, Beatrix, Sawyer, Lukas, and Landry. Glen also leaves behind, his parents; Glen (Bea) Butcher, mother Mildred Riley; his brothers Mitch, Gene (Lori) and Randy; his sisters Kim (Guy), Christine (Andy), Brenda (Darren) and numerous extended family members. Glen will be lovingly remembered by the many young people he mentored and helped along the way, as well as, numerous close friends. Authentic, genuine, and quick witted best describes Glen. He was always good for a great story and many laughs. He had a passion for Motorcycles, Cars, travelling, music and NASCAR. He was known for always wanting to lend a hand and cared deeply for his friends and family. Some of his happiest times in recent years were visits with his grandchildren who adored him. He enjoyed entertaining friends, helping others and relaxing on his deck listening to music with a Budweiser. Glen spent the majority of his working life owning and operating his own auto body shop. He took pride in his work as a master painter and auto body technician. After retiring, Glen could still be found at the shop working on his various projects or enjoying a ride on his prized Harley Davidsons with his wife. The family would like to thank Dr. Spicer and VJH ICU staff, as well as, Dr. Weirstra and KGH ICU staff. Due to the COVID-19 restrictions, a celebration of Glen’s Life will be held in the future when larger gatherings are permitted. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Glen to JoeAnna’s house. To donate please go to www.joeannashouse.com. Glen’s family and friends will miss his love, sense of humour and his never-ending appreciation for adventure.

I met Glen and Marg back in the early 80s . I was lucky enough to be their neighbour for a short time. Use to bump into them once in a while until moving to Alberta. Glen was just that type of person that left a lasting impression on you. I remember chatting about his Norton he had at the time I was a big fan of them. My friend Gord told me this morning of Glens passing. Marg I am so sorry for you and your family’s loss.
