On June 2, 2025, Jen was out in her garden when St. Peter came calling and she asked, “Will my family be ok? Then I’ll just turn off the water and I’ll be right there”, and she has gone to be with Angels with the dirt from her garden between her toes. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Jennifer Anne Caswell, nee Heath. She is survived by her husband Matt Goriggan, sons Andrew and Philip, stepson Chris Goriggan and brother Gordon (Carmen) Heath, Grandchildren Jesse and Heath and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Jen was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Dr. John Heath and Hilda Heath. Her father was the only doctor for many miles around and her mom was a teacher and the head of Girl Guides in Newfoundland. Jen grew up on the coast of Newfoundland and was a Girl Guide into early adulthood. She went to university to become a teacher. She was married in 1962 to Dan Caswell and had two children, Philip and Andrew. She divorced Dan in 1971. She raised her children as a single mom while working her way up from Special Education teacher to Assistant Superintendent of the school board of the County of Lac St. Anne. Jen’s main pastime in Whitecourt was square dancing, and she belonged to that club for many years. When she retired having moved to Vernon she met the love of her life, Matt, and they danced together for 27 years. Jen always planted a large garden, and you could not leave her house at harvest time without a vegetable. She was an avid thrifter and volunteered at the Upper Room Mission Thrift Store for many years. Jennifer was a friend to all that had the good fortune to meet her. In lieu of flowers you may make a donation to the Salvation Army.
