Margaret Ruth Hamilton
April 11, 1937 – September 29, 2019
Margaret (Peggy) Ruth Hamilton On Sept 29, after way too many years of crime-fighting with a nefarious criminal named Cancer … our Super Mom Hero left this world to find much deserved peace. This amazing lady leaves a lasting legacy of love and special memories; to her 5 children Cher, Denise, Ray, Karen and Ryan. Along with 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mom Margaret and dad Jack along with siblings Ron, Barb and Tom, and survived by her younger bro and buddy Uncle Doug. Born and raised in Chilliwack … in a much different time the old phrase “having to walk fifteen miles to school in the snow! Barefoot! Uphill! Both ways!" comes strongly to mind … The saying is almost real for her and the family but she would never be one to complain… as a child and an adult she has conquered so many life obstacles and with so many near death misses, there should be a book written! Our Peggy is lovingly recognized as a Daughter, Sister, Grandma, Aunt, Friend, Confidant, a Coach for Girls Fastpitch and Volley Ball, neighborhood mom … and a MENTOR to all. Her beyond proud family lovingly know her as Grammy Hammy, G-ma, Aunty-Grandma, Great Grandma, Sis and Mom, she cherished each title and every role. Growing up with mom was a very enriching time, with a HUGE heart she had an open door to all, our friends were always welcome. As the dynamo she was, and with 5 kids, a full house was the norm, hosting crib tournaments, poker parties, pool tournaments etc. … deep down it was her way to keep us home just a little bit longer. Peggy had a love affair with fishing, boy did she love fishing, OH and gardening is not to feel cheated on she loved you too! Not only was she a master at and loved knitting but she was also an amazing seamstress. From coats, grad dresses and wedding gowns to whatever else we would request her to make us, she would never disappoint. Some other loves include ceramics and painting murals, seriously her talents run a long list that one can only hope to come close to emanating. Her amazing strength and power will always be in our hearts. And her memory is wrapped in loving warmth with each sweater she has knit for us all, and with each proud moment shared, as we are all her family. Remember the happy times, raise a glass with cheer, come celebrate Peggy with us in honor of her life on Saturday Oct 12 at 2:30 at the Lakers Clubhouse 7000 Cummins Rd Vernon and thank you for sharing her life!
