Marie Eunice Barbara Anderson

January 8, 1930March 5, 2020

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eunice she passed away unexpectedly at the age of 90 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital.

She was born in Grouard, Alberta, daughter of Charlie and Rosalie Anderson. She had 5 brothers and 4 sisters. Growing up she spent 3 and a half years in a TB Sanitarium and also in a Residential School. A tough start in life, but these experiences helped to shape her into the amazing, loving and caring woman that she was.

She married and has 9 children, she also took it upon herself to open her door when other families needed her help and took in children and loved and helped to raise them.

She lived an amazing life through all of the highs and lows dealt to her. She persevered and remained strong and resilient through it all. No one could knock her down even if they tried. She always landed on her own two feet.

She was an amazing mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, great grandmother and great great-grandmother, kokhum and chappy and mother in-law. She cherished all and made sure that she made an impact on everyone’s lives. She loved with all that she had, and gave all that she had to give. She was a very good friend, a privilege that many were given.

She had a deep passion for many things from crocheting, knitting and needlework to painting beautiful pictures. She loved hockey and yelling from the stands, when the boys played, cheering on her team who were playing on the TV; she didn't have a favorite team, it just depended on who was winning.

She was musically talented, a talent she passed on to some of her grandchildren. She could play the guitar, banjo the piano and organ. None of these fantastic genes passed down to her children, she saved it for the grandchildren. Music meant everything to her. Books and books of songs written down on paper, she loved the meaning behind everything she listened to. She could belt out a song with the best of them. Out of tune mind you, but she would sing her heart out. Elvis was her KING!

She loved to laugh and had a ton of jokes, some hilarious and some well, you would just look at her and ask "What"!! Not funny. She was a feisty woman who told it like it was, even if you didn't want to hear it, too bad for you. She stood up for what she believed in even if it meant she was standing alone. She loved hard and when she loved you, you knew it. She was a mover and a shaker, always going to visit, always there to help out. She is predeceased by her parents Charlie and Rosalie Anderson, brothers Edward, George, Charlie, William John and Frankie (whereabouts unknown) sisters Madaline, Clara, Agnes.

She is survived by her sister Francis, her children Donna, Sharon, David, Kenneth, Douglas, Calvin (Tami), Holly, Kelly (Mike). Her grandchildren, Terry, Laurie, Perry, Darcy and Darwin, Michael, Lisa, Kregg and Koren, Jason, Justin, Jaimie, Jessica, Allyssa, Emily, Ashley, Callie, Matthew, Carson, Dallas, Jordyn and Rachel; great grandchildren Kayla-Dawn, Michael, Brandon, Andrew, Addison, Dawson, Syara, Bradley, Jaylynn, Garrett, Antonia, Lacey, Ava, Jetta, Blake, Jaxon, Linden, Zaedyn, Zariah and Zaxlynn; great great-grandchildren Ryder and Lucas.

I am a daughter of the late Louis Anderson from Peavine, Alberta. I met and visited Eunice many years ago, when I resided in Vernon, B.C. I believe she lived in Salmon Arm, B.C. at the time. She had a friend there by the last name of Letendre (perhaps from Lac St. Anne, Alberta). I visited her a few times and she was such a pleasant and warm lady. She is my father's cousin. I am sending my sincere condolences to all of the family. Rest in Peace, Eunice. I called you aunty.
