OBITUARY

Patricia Hope Wright

April 1, 1931August 21, 2020

It is with broken hearts the family of Pat Wright advise of her passing August 21, 2020 at the North Okanagan Hospice. Born April 1, 1931 to William and Clara (Beck) Thalman in Winnipeg Manitoba. Predeceased by loving husband Jim, she is survived by, daughters, Diane Marshall and her family, Jim Marshall (Dana) and their family, Michelle Bittroff (Thomas) and their family. Kathryn Rojem (Ed) and her family, Jonathan Ward (Nikki) and their family, Jaclyn Cornish (Ryan) and their family, Lori Surinak (Nathan) and their family. Sandy York (Todd) and her family, Hannah Enair (Dylan ) and the newest great grandchild, a little girl, #15. She is further survived by two sisters in Winnipeg, Shirley Nash and Debbie Buskell and numerous cousins. Mom faced many adversities and health struggles in life, however, she was the epitome of strength, loyalty, a “must do” determination and a great sense of humor. Together with our dad, they gave us a great life with meager resources in the early years. Through a keen sense of business, integrity and hard work, they enjoyed the fruits of a successful business. Mom was also the typical homemaker and hands on, engaged mother, from taxi service for all her children and grandchildren, amazing family meals, baking, countless skating and Halloween costumes, sewing, knitting beautiful sweaters and all around coach and cheerleader, she will be sorely missed. Mom found great solace and security in the home her and dad built on Graymar Road, Lakeview Heights in 1967, wonderful memories. It was her greatest wish to have family at her side when she passed, thankfully that wish was granted. By request, there will not be a formal service, a family gathering is planned for later in the fall The family wishes to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff at Carrington Place where mom was a resident for the past few years, the nurses on 2 East, Vernon Jubilee Hospital and the staff/nurses at the North Okanagan Hospice, you are angels. The family would also like to thank Dr. Donald Smith and Jodey, for their care and support for the years mom resided in Vernon. Those wishing to, may make a donation to the North Okanagan Hospice or a charity of your choice in mom’s honor.

When we moved into Westlake Gardens in 2004, we were fortunate to live beside Pat and Jim wright. They were excellent neighbours. They helped us adjust to the Okanagan valley, coming from the prairies as they had years earlier.
They introduced us to the annual Pickerel dinners at the Lion's Hall.
Pat made the Best matrimonial cake ever!
We were sorry to see her move after she fell and fractured her hip.
We have many fond memories of Pat and Jim . We extend our sincere condolences to her family.

I'm so sorry to hear of this news.
I have fond memories of your Mom.
I even remember your pantry... always stocked with cookies. She would make Sandy and me grilled Velveeta cheese sandwiches (which we never got to have at home!) It seemed like she could always be found in the kitchen, with an apron on!
She was kind and sweet and I send my heartfelt condolences.

Diane, Kathy and Sandy...so many great memories of our lives back on Graymar Road...First one was Sandy coming across the street Nov. 1967, knocks on the door (Pat watching from the road) hi um, can your child come out to play? So darned cute! Kathy being able to solve the Rubik’s Cube In under a minute and babysit at a moment’s notice when we all wanted to go out for dinner! Watching Diane being a teenager......
Remember using the washing machine to make the apple juice, everyone in the neighborhood helping? Going up into the hills to get our Christmas trees? Your Dad’s snowmobile? Going down to Kalmoir beach at 7pm when it was too darned hot in the house and it was so cool there? Your Mom and I canning peaches in 40C? Good times, wonderful neighbors, wonderful friends. Thank you for being there. ❤️ Jan Pearce (Bregeda) and family xoxo

My deepest sympathy to you Sandy, Diane, Kathy and all your family. Your mother was a kind wonderful person who always was there for just not her kids but all of their friends. I still remember being picked up by Mrs Wright in her sports car and all of us cramming in 😘. Hugs to you all ! From Shauna Bakala and the Ensign family
