Ruth Riise/Kranich, long time resident of Lumby and Cherryville, passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2026. She was born on January 25th, 1932, and grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta, then moved to Lumby and married John Riise on March 23rd, 1949. They had 6 children which they raised in County Line, BC, and later moved to Lumby, and then Cherryville in the early '70s. After losing her husband of 25 years, she married her second husband, Bruno Kranich of Cherryville.
She is predeceased by both her parents, a sister and brother, both husbands, one young daughter, Esther, both her sons, Ivar and Larry, and a son-in-law, Danny. She leaves behind 3 daughters, Elsie Manahan, Cindy (Cecil) Yost, and Laura (Don) Mallach, along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, sisters, one brother, and many nieces and nephews.
If so desired, donations in Ruth's name can be made to the Diabetic Society or you local food bank.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
