Shirley was born in 1943 in Southern Ontario and moved to Alberta when she was six. She grew up in Traver before starting her family. Shirley married her first husband Ray and had three sons—Steve (Anita), Jason (Colleen), and Brad. She was an active member of the Snowmobile Club in Vernon and wrote for their newsletter, The Snow News.
In 1982, Shirley met her second husband, and love of her life Gerald while working at a tractor dealership in Vernon. The two married in 1986 after moving to Barrhead, Alberta, where they built a house together. They moved back to Vernon in 2003 and bought 20 acres on Blue Nose Mountain, where they enjoyed their life surrounded by nature.
Shirley had a love for gardening, especially flowers, and she also adored animals, especially her dog, Apatchi, and her cats, Goldie and Termite. She loved spending time with her family, and her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her so much joy. Shirley also enjoyed country music and had many good friends throughout her life.
Shirley will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
