Shirley Dawn McCaig

It is with great sadness that we announce Shirley Dawn McCaig (nee McQueen) went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 9, 2025 (born July 13, 1945). She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Neil and her 5 children: Shawn, Brenda, Peggy, Don (Karrie) and Faye. Nana will be deeply missed by her grandchildren: Chloe, Gracie, Zachary, Joshua, Michael and Chance. Shirley is also survived by her brother Jim (Lynda) and their children Tracy, Kim and Kristy.

Shirley moved over 50 times but spent the last 30 years in the same house in Vernon. She always wanted a big family, and her love of children led her to foster over 150 children. Shirley felt the need to give back and volunteered many hours with her church and organizations like the Vernon Emergency Support Services. She was an avid sewer and quilter and enjoyed Bridge, Crib, camping, animals, her flower garden, water fights and getting into mischief with her grandchildren. Above all else, mom loved Jesus and treasured every minute spent with her family.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00pm at Knox Presbyterian Church in Vernon.
