I (Barry Martin) was working in Stewart, B.C. in 1969. One day a fellow came into the shop - he was looking for someone to fix his 'Cat'. Sunday morning Vern picked me up, enroute to the logging site, Vern told me he was from Creston, B.C., I replied I had some shirt tail relations in Creston. We had met before, probably under Uncle Frank and Aunt Jenny's cherry trees. I fixed his 'Cat', enjoyed dinner with Vern and his family.
Many years later mid 1980's, Vern was working for Pat Young in Grande Prairie, Ab.. I had also done contract work for Pat. One evening we had a pleasent surprise, Vern and Marj came for coffee and visit at our home in Clairmont.
We enjoyed many family times with Vern & Marj during the time they lived in Grande Prairie. We have kept in contact since usually at Christmas with a telephone call. Rest in Peace Vern.
Our condolences to Marj and family.
