

With great sadness the family of Walter Dobernigg annouces that he has passed away peacefully after battling Parkinson’s Disease for 17 years.
Walter was born in Edmonton, Alberta to Frank and Anna Dobernigg and spent his early years in Carrot Creek, Alberta. He and his family then moved to Vernon, British Columbia to start an orcharding business. He attended Beairsto Elementary School and then Vernon Senior High.
He worked at several places before finding his career as a driver for Greyhound Bus Lines. He enjoyed meeting people from around the world and travelling to new places. Some of his most memorable times in his career was being the driver for tour groups from all over the world. He retired from Greyhound after 33 years of service when he and his wife Martha retired to Naramata, BC in 1992 and then returned to the family orchard in Vernon, BC in 2003.
He is survived by his wife Martha Dobernigg of 35 years, his son Stefan (Christa) Dobernigg, his brother John (Priscilla) Dobernigg and his sister Ruth Krell.
A memorial service for Walter will be held at Grace Bible Church in Vernon, BC at 1pm on Saturday January 28, 2017.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Parkinson’s Society British Columbia or to a charity of your choice.
