Charles “Charlie” Wayne Curtis, age 85, of Versailles, Ohio, passed away Monday, March 3, 2014 at Wayne Hospital in Greenville. He was born October 10, 1928 in Darke Co., Ohio, a son of the late Glen and Eva Elizabeth Curtis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three children, Alanzo Charles, Anthony Wayne and Angel LoAnn Curtis; 4 brothers and sisters, Treva Klipstine, Opal Koon, Herbert Gene Curtis and Shirley Curtis and 1 grandson, Adam Joseph Rindler.
Charlie is a life time member of the Versailles VFW, the Covington AMVETS, and a member of the Greenville American Legion and a member of the Emmaus New Testament Church.
He is survived by his wife, Violet “Duck” Curtis of Versailles, Ohio; 3 children, Glen R. Curtis of Greenville, Ohio, Trenda (Kenneth Brown) Curtis of Woodington, Ohio and LaDasia (Joe) Rindler of Versailles, Ohio; 6 grandchildren, Chad W. Curtis, NaRyan “Bo” Curtis, Tyler Rindler, Taylor Rindler, Isaiah Curtis and Eva Elizabeth Curtis and 4 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 3 brothers, Arthur (Evelyn) Curtis of Verailles, Ohio, Roger (Pat) Curtis of Greenville, Ohio and Robert Curtis of Ansonia, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with Pastor James D. Leonard officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Township Memorial Garden in Darke County. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home to help offset funeral expenses.
