Karon Crowell, age 77 of Versailles, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A devoted, wife, mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother, she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, connection, and unwavering love.
Born on December 1, 1947, Karon lived a life marked by compassion, generosity, and genuine interest in the lives of those around her. She never met a stranger-whether at the grocery store, a family gathering, or in a waiting room, she had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and important. Her warm spirit and thoughtful conversations made lasting impressions on everyone she encountered.
Family was the heart of her world. She was a pillar of strength, support, and unconditional love to her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her laughter filled rooms, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Karon retired from Fram in Greenville in 2000. She was a member of the Versailles Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, Versailles Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Covington AmVets Ladies Auxiliary, but what she loved most was spending time with people-listening to their stories, sharing her own, and forming meaningful connections wherever she went.
Karon is survived by her husband of 40 years, Lyle E. Crowell whom she married July 7, 1984; children, Angie & Joe Marker, Brian & Karen Petitjean, Chad Beam, Todd Crowell, and Melissa & Joe Rittenhouse; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Gigandet, Linda McGlothen, Lavena (Pat) Marker, and Raine (Terry) Longfellow; brothers-in-law, Jim Didier, Lee (Bonnie) Crowell, Lew (Mary) Crowell, and Les Crowell; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Karon was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard “Jiggs” & Lucille (Smith) Gigandet; brothers, Bob, George, Jerry, and Norman Gigandet; and sister, Shelia Didier.
A private graveside service will be held for family and friends at St. Valbert Cemetery in Versailles with Rev. Fr. Jim Schmitmeyer (family friend) officiating.
