was born on July 11, 1938 to parents Henry and Nannie Graybill. She grew up on a farm near Gratis, Ohio and often shared fond memories of milking cows, farm life and taking buggy rides into town with papa.
Marti spent her teenage years helping her mother take care of orphans from Shawne Acres Orphanage in Dayton, Ohio. After graduating from Brookville HS in 1957 she spent the next 22 years waitressing and raising a family, In 1979 she went to work for Corning Glass Works in Greenville, Ohio as a quality control inspector until retiring 1996.
She is preceded in heaven by her brothers: Charles and Carl Graybill; her sisters: Alice Huffman, Shirley Wrightsman, Virginia Tatum and Ella Cook, her late husband John Francis and son Denver Ernst.
Marti is survived by her sister Lois Van Ausdal, her sons Dwaine and Dan Ernst, her daughters Diane Phillips (Steve) and Darla May, stepdaughters : Tammy Turner, Terri McConnell, Tina Carrol, Trenda Shoffstall and Tonya Schlecty, 13 grandchildren 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild as well as many other family and friends.
She loved to crochet, cook, watch "soaps", attend church and spend time with family and friends. Marti never passed up a game of Gin Rummy or Euchre. Everyone who knew Marti loved her and felt blessed to know her, but above all else Marti was dedicated to her faith. Sadly Marti passed away in Smyrna, TN after a reoccurring battle with cancer. Darla May, Diane Phillips and Tiffaney Goss were at her side when God called her home.
Friends may call on the family on Thursday, June 30, 2022 from 6:00 PM- 8:00 PM at the Bailey Zechar Funeral Home, Versailles, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Friday, July 1, 2022 at 10:30 AM at the St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia, Ohio with Fr. Matt Feist presiding. Burial to follow at St. Remy Catholic Cemetery.
