

Urmila Kumar, 87, passed away peacefully Sunday July 25th, 2025, at Versailles Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. Urmila was preceded in death by her parents, sister, and by her husband Rishi Kumar. Urmila is survived by her sons and daughters-in law, Sanjay Kumar and Marianne Kuzujanakis, and Anuj Kumar and Bagyashree Sundaram, and her grandson Caiden Kumar.
Urmila was born on August 6, 1937, in New Delhi, India. Urmila graduated from the University of Delhi with a Bachelor’s of Arts degree and a Master’s degree in English. Urmila met her husband Rishi when she was a student, and they married on May 11th, 1960. Urmila and Rishi came to the U.S. in the early 1960’s and subsequently lived in Nashville and the greater Detroit area before settling in Fairborn. Urmila was devoutly religious and deeply dedicated to her family. Urmila was happiest raising her children, and she and Rishi never spent a night apart over the 60 years of their marriage. Urmila loved talking with her friends and, over the years, she enjoyed sewing and crafts, tending to her garden, and feeding birds. Urmila lived a long and unique life, and her generosity and strong spirit will be sincerely missed.
Urmila will be cremated privately. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to your own favorite charity. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
