Adeline was born in The Pas, Manitoba on November 20th, 1937, relocating to Victoria with her parents at the age of 4. She lived in Vancouver, Regina, Calgary and Edmonton while raising her family, but returned to Victoria in 1975 as she was always considered it home. She is predeceased by her husband of 44 years Ervin, her father John Chuhaywich, mother Olga Romando, and brother Elven Shane. She is survived by her children Ken, Brian (Colleen), Dean, Michelle Salmond (Neil), 8 grandchildren Alana, Ashleigh, Carl, Barret, Stephanie, Devon, Spencer, Caley and 8 great grandchildren Austin, Levi, Ryder, Jamison, Everly, Hayden, Nola and Jaxson.
Adeline attended Sir James Douglas Elementary, Central Junior High and was a member of Vic High's Class of '55. Adeline excelled at many sports including basketball and track but found her true love in dance at the age of 10, later becoming a professional dancer and instructor with the Florence Clough Dance Academy until her first child was born. Her working career also included positions with Saskatchewan Drug & Alcohol Commission, Evansdale School (Edmonton), Bc Motor Vehicle Branch and the CRD Clinic for Communicable Disease. In 1981, Adeline purchased V.I. Colormart with husband Erv, taking full control of the operation after Erv's death in 2001 until retiring after the sale of the business in 2008. She lived by the motto "I did it my way", she truly did. She will be sadly missed by all that she touched with her life.
Many thanks to Dr. Shaun Humphreys', the Island Health Palliative Care Unit and to Dr. Kevin Wade for helping my mom through her journey.
