Saddened to know that Alisdair is gone but still richer for having known him.

I have been thinking about you for so long. I knew you when I was only a young child of 10, but you made a lasting impression on me. Over the years I have tried to search you, but it wasn't until today that I came across your surname. When I googled it, I found this very sad news about your passing. I am heartbroken. Although I have not seen you in decades, I wanted you to know that you made a difference in my life. I will always look up to your spirit, courage and zest for life. You were a very dear, sweet and special soul in my life. I am sad we never had another opportunity to reconnect. May your next life be filled with peace and happiness. Sending lots of love from our entire family. May you rest in peace.

I am so very sad to hear the news of Alisdair's passing.  Growing up in Ottawa he was affectionately known to Michael, Louise and I as Uncle Alisdair.  We were always in great anticipation to await his visits.  We spent numerous occasions together at his cottage, visits during the Christmas holidays, and very memorable times at my parents summer Lodge in Westport where we taught Katrina to water ski. He always seemed to bring fun, excitement and laughter on his visits.  I loved to hear his stories with that great Scottish accent. 

My heart warmth condolences to Celine and family.  Rest in peace Uncle Alisdair - I will miss you.

I was so very sorry to hear the news about Alisdair's death. I met Alisdair through his sister, Fiona, in June 1973. Fiona and I came to Ottawa for a five-month "working holiday". (I am still here!) Alisdair provided us with a place to stay and even a car for us to get around. I have many good memories of my first summer here. Alisdair introduced us to the RA Badminton Club, to cottage life, and lots of other fun stuff. My condolences to his family.

I was deeply moved to learn that Alisdair had passed last week. He was a close colleague in the 1960's in Ottawa and remained a good friend over the intervening years, regardless of where either of us resided. I am pleased to have seen him once again in Victoria two years ago. My sympathies go out to Celine and all his family.

Dear Celine,
We are so sad & disappointed that we could not be here to share this time with you. Alisdair & Bob had good times together in all of their travels.

It was with great sadness that I learnt of my Uncle Alisdair's recent passing. 

In my younger years it was with great anticipation that I and my brother would await our Uncle's visits. There was always such a swirl of activity associated with an Alisdair visit - as he darted from one place to the next. He certainly had his own distinct frenetic pace of life. 

If passing through near Christmas or the New Year he would often provide gifts that would leave my parents (Iain and June) to dispair - be it mini chemistry / electronic kits that were for much older children to which he would retort " Oh, it will fine". Or be it simply a few Canadian dollars discreetly thrust into our young hands - my poor father Iain would then be continually pestered to advise on the latest exchange rate (pre internet days this was easier said than done especially over a festive period).

My thoughts and best wishes go also to Celine and family at this difficult time. 

RIP Uncle Alisdair and thank you for the memories

Knowing Alisdair Bogie was a real privilege. My friends and I enjoyed many eventful trips to his cottage on Lac Rond, building ill-advised, beer-fueled additions to his deck before leaping into the lake (also ill-advised) and then weaving our way to and from the Poltimore Inn (extremely ill-advised)--and those memories have only improved with time. More recently I always enjoyed catching up with Alisdair on the touchlines of a James Bay RFC match and recounting our adventures in the Olympics and North Cascades--and you could really tell that his heart was in the hills. I'll look forward to paying my respects next time I'm in Victoria and building a wee cairn atop a suitable peak in his memory. And at the top, we'll honor him with, in his immortal words, “an elegant sufficiency” of fine single malt!

I was very sad when I learned of Alisdair's passing in Victoria.  Please accept my deepest condolences.

I remember Alisdair very well from the Bureau of Management Consulting in Ottawa.  He was always a leading edge consultant / Deputy Director, always innovative and helpful.  Staff loved to work with him.  He had a naturally infectious sense of humour, and was always a great pleasure to be around.

Alisdair will be well-remembered and greatly missed.

Very sorry to hear that my Uncle from afar is no longer with us. I last saw him when we visited him and Celine in Victoria in 2009. I will always remembers his visits to London when I was young child as I would hear my Dad and Alisdair coming in the early hours of the morning after one of their nights out in London!

I was very sad to hear of Alisdair's passing last week. 

Back in the 80's at the Bureau of Management Consulting, we had offices beside one another for many years and shared a great professional and personal relationship. Alisdair was always a hard-working guy, and he had the skills, experience and temperament that helped him excel in the consulting field. It was easy to notice that the consultants working with him on his projects over the years enjoyed and respected his leadership and camaraderie.

But Alisdair also knew how to have fun, and I remember well the twinkle in his eyes when talk turned to exploits and subjects other than work. He was always interested in trying new things, so being around him was never dull!

It was a great pleasure to know Alisdair, and I consider myself lucky to have been one of his colleagues.

My sincere condolences to Celine and family.

Dear Celine,
We are all saddened by Alisdair's passing away. He was a wonderful person, full of cheer and kindness. His courage in battling his illness over the last few years was inspiring. Peggy, Mark and I remember him in our prayers.

We are mourning the loss of our dear friend Alisdair
He became part of our family.We have many stories and memories of him.
Soon after meeting him,he traveled with us for a rugby match in      Montreal.In the car were myself,Kate,Alisdair,a two year old boy 
and six week old girl.several stops involved nappy changes.Needless to say ,he did not return to Ottawa with us !
Fast forward forty years,in a move of wonderful eccentricity,he 
cycled 100miles from Fort William to Carbost in Skye,to accompany me on my last Munro.
He faced and fought his cancer with courage and determination.
he never at any time showed any hint of self pity.

My brother would have been embarrassed to know that he was held in such high esteem.
He was a modest and very brave man who will be missed terribly by his family and friends.

It was only today that I discovered, on-line, with shock and great sadness, of the death of Katrina (who was my close friend in Rome in the late 1980s) some five years ago. I decided to seek out Alisdair to learn more of what had happened to Katrina (who I know had had health problems) and have just noted, with enormous regret, of his passing just a few days ago. I know that Katrina moved to Canada, after her mother's untimely death, to be closer to Alisdair who she loved very much and so I am deeply saddened to hear, today, of the passing away of them both. I offer my family's sincere condolences to Celine, Lin and your wider family. I note that Alisdair was an accountant (with a very caring side), as am I, so I also feel a bond there. May both the warm, restless and fun-loving Katrina and the kind and caring Alisdair now rest in peace eternally

It was with great sadness that we learned of Alisdair's death last Wednesday. He was very courageous over the past few years and faced his illness in a most positive manner. An inspiration to us all.
My brother left Scotland many, many years ago - but we have been fortunate over the years to have had many visits from him at our home in Surrey and have enjoyed family times with him in Edinburgh and the Lake District. On one famous occasion at our house, Alisdair and assorted London friends sampled fifteen different rare malt whiskies which Alisdair produced from his suitcase. A long night! Alisdair had the knack of keeping his friends over the years and we still regularly socialise with some of his old colleagues from his London days.
We know he was happy in Canada and was fortunate to find a new family. We hope Celine and family will find comfort in their happy memories.
Due to June's recent health problems we were unable to come to Victoria and visit him during the past year - but we have spent many hours on Skype with him - indeed only last Sunday we had a long conversation in which he was still asking about the family in the UK.
We will all miss him. Much love -  Iain&June, Stuart&Vicki, Graham&  Michelle and the three little ones - Daniel,Oliver and Charlotte.

I was saddened to hear about Alisdair's passing.  He was a member of the panel at my interview for the Bureau of Management Consulting in 1988 and I worked on many projects with him at BMC and later at Consulting and Audit Canada.  What I remember most about him is how easily he could make me laugh.  I extend my deepest sympathies to his family.

My deepest sympathies to Alisdair's family.  I was profoundly saddened by the news of his death.  Alisdair changed my life for the better and he holds a special place in my heart.  

In 1992, when I was in need of a new career, I met Alisdair.  He was a Director at Consulting and Audit Canada and I had arranged to meet him on a business development call.  We had not met before, or so I thought.  A few minutes into the meeting he told me that he knew me from my time at Touche Ross Bailey and Smart.  I was floored because he was talking about 25 years earlier.  I was a wet behind the ears junior accountant with Touche while Alisdair was consultant with PS Ross and Partners, a division of Touche Ross

As we continued our meeting, he asked if I had applied to the CAC recent competition.  I told him I had but had not heard back from CAC.  He retrieved my file and it indicated that I had expressed no interest.  This was news to me.  He asked if I was interested and I said yes.  Well the upshot was that I was employed by CAC within two weeks, working for Alisdair.  I have enjoyed a rewarding career with CAC and the public service because of Alisdair.  His recall of knowing me all those years later still leaves me in awe.

I hope that your memories of Alisdair will guide you through this time of loss.  He will always be special to me
