So sorry to read of your brother's passing.
It seems like yesterday, I was in your drafting class at Lord Beaverbrook H.S.
Very fond memories of those 3 years.

Hi uncle Tony! Its Matthew! 
Although you are no longer with us in person as a physical presence, you we always be with us in spirit.
I can't remember the last time we had spent time together but I can guarantee it s was filled with laughter. 
I always enjoyed watching your slide shows from your travels.(even if they were a tad lengthy.🤭)
Now that I am older,i can respect the time and effort that you put into them and how proud of them you were.
I wish I could of seen you one last time before you embarked on your next journey,
I always enjoyed coming to see you and Auntie Judy and as a child was super excited that you had a pool!
I hope you are at peace and relaxing wherever it is you may be! ( I'm sure there is a pool there as well)
I will miss you forever and always,

Dear Tony, we all will miss you very much. Thank you for everything You and Judy gave me, tought me and showed me. Your big heart and smile will stay forever in my heart. Rest in Peace, dear Uncle Tony! Love you! Deep sorrow from Lithuania. 

We sure had some special Christmas Eve's with Uncle Tony, walking us through the trips from the year that him and Judy would take. I still remember them being like we were right there with him!
The detail that he remembered was amazing, sure didn't need Google then, us kids would laugh about his excitement and stories.
We will miss him.

Our dear Uncle Tony will truly be missed. He was a bright spark in our lives. He was always up for the next adventure. We had many special times together when Ryan lived in Victoria before we were married. Judy would provide the most delicious and nutritious snacks for everyone - we know he ate well! Tony was keen to show off the Island and the many sights that he and Judy had discovered in years past. We were in Chemanus, out to Sooke, and of course the downtown area. Tony and Judy were always keen to have a visit in the gazebo. This photo was taken May 31, 2020 and was our last visit in the sunshine with this faith filled gentleman. We will cherish the memories Uncle Tony.

I remember Uncle Tony as being a gentleman; well dressed, polite, and of course always joking.  I always enjoyed it when our families got together as Uncle Tony was always full of happiness.

When I was in my late teens I was in the process of determining what my career choice would be.  I was considering Interior Design when my mother suggested I contact Uncle Tony as, well you guessed it, he was an interior designer.  We spoke on the phone and he sent me a book for my purvey.  

Thank you Uncle Tony for being you.  I love you and will miss you.

Tony’s Journey to Canada
 
Our parents, Juozas and Valerija Dubauskas with 3 children, Kestutis 13, Antanas 10 and Rutelle 3, fled Lithuania mid 1944 as the Russians began their invasion of the Baltic states to drive out the German forces there.  Along with thousands of other refugees we were fleeing south through Poland towards the allied forces approaching Germany.
Our family spent 5 difficult years in Germany moving from one refugee camp to another including camps in Dresden, Nuremberg and Bavaria where our younger brother Vitus was born in 1945.  At the end of the war Dad found occasional work as a translator for UNRA (United Nations Relief Agency) and in a bakery for the American Army.  
In 1949 with a contract to work on a sugar beet farm in Picture Butte, Alberta we were able to immigrate to Canada.  Thousands of refugees boarded the converted troop carrier SS Samaria and finally arrived at Pier 21 in Halifax.  After being processed there our family, along with others, boarded a train heading for the prairies.  Another hard journey of many days.  The farmer picked us up at the station and we would work his farm for two years to pay off the passage to Canada.  A small house was provided for us on the farm.  The work was manual and acres of sugar beets were planted and weeded by hand.  Tony and Kes worked the fields alongside our parents. Machinery was only used to harvest the beets.  
After our two years on the farm was completed we moved to the River Bottom at Lethbridge where Dad worked in the coal mine by the OldmanRiver, Tony worked in Bert and Mac’s Sport Shop and Kes repairing tracks for Canadian Pacific Railroad.  In 1952, before the big flood of 1953 which destroyed all the homes in the River Bottom, we moved to Calgary.  Tony went to work for The Bay, Kes for McTavish Construction and Vitus and Rutelle attended school.  
We are grateful for the sacrifices our parents made to bring us to Canada.  Tony had a wonderful life here.


I'm going to miss you Tony but will always have many wonderful  memories to remember you by.  Rest in peace Antaniuk

Dear  Judy, I'm greatly saddened to hear of Tony's passing. Most recently, I've missed running into you both at Murchie's while on coffee break from the office. I truly enjoyed Tony's passion for taking care of the church facilities and his great sense of humour. He will be missed by many!

Today, Doug and I were shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Tony's passing.  Many times, for over 30 years, we sought and followed his excellent advice regarding changes to our first home in Victoria. And he, and his wife, Judy, became treasured friends.
We will always remember him.

Eulogy part 2:
Tony remained connected to his Lithuanian heritage, and visited Lithuania in 1992.  Through this, he and Judy, became legal guardians of a cousin’s granddaughter, Renata Kiudelis, for 1 year while she attended grade 8 in Victoria.  It is known that Tony tried to get involved immediately by helping Renata with her homework.  Rumor has it her English improved rapidly to avoid more help.
They loved exploring the Island and went on many camping trips up island in their tent and later Volkswagen Westphalia, I am sure they knew every square mile of the island.  We were fortunate to take an unforgettable trip to Tofino with them.  We were racing the sun to a beautiful sunset, glitzing off the ocean.   Tony had “ants in his pants” and he was always on the go.  So, it is not surprising he rode his bicycle until the age of 83.  When I was driving he would enthusiastically correct me and laugh. 
They drove to Calgary many times to visit Judy’s family and the Dubauskas family.  He would clean mom’s windows, pick weeds or any other general maintenance that was required using his pristine gardening skills.    Their visits were always a highlight for our family. 
They also loved international travel and the many places that they visited include; India, China, Australia, Russia, Europe, Hawaii, US, and several cruises. They also visited every province in Canada, and did a 10 week cross America/Canada trip in the Vanagon in 2000 to mark the Millenium.
Tony and Judy regularly attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church where Tony was an Usher and volunteered with the Maintenance and Grounds  committee. He was also a very active member of the Knights of Columbus and very much enjoyed his participation with the “Knights”. 
In the end one might say that Tony had a very full life and a good life.  Rest in peace my brother we will miss you deeply, but we will never forget you and all the joy you brought  us, our family and all of those who got to know you.

Kind, Curious, Determined, Creative, and a great sense of Humour is how I would describe my brother. 
After immigrating to Canada, the family lived in the Lethbridge River Bottom district for some time where Tony went to school.  We have a fond memory of our mother driving us to school.  It is important to note, she did not have a Driver’s License, and her driving proved this.  We  refused any further transportation from her after this first and only ordeal.
In 1953 the family relocated to Calgary where all of the family jointly build a home on Colgrove Ave in Bridgeland.  Tony was a strong participant in this.  He would use many of these skills throughout his life.  Tony obtained his Interior Decorating Diploma in Chicago,  in 1966.  He enjoyed a 43 year career with the Hudson’s Bay Company. 
 Tony loved cars and on many weekends in the summer he would take us all on trips to Banff, one of his favorite spots.  Tony was transferred to Red Deer, where he met the love of his life Judy. They married in 1975 and relocated to Victoria.  In fact they started their journey of 45 adventurous years together, the day after their wedding with a U-Haul, personal effects and wedding gifts.
They bought a beautiful bungalow with a large pool in the sunny south backyard.   Both Tony and Judy would spend many hours in their backyard; they loved their Gazebo and pool.  Tony was very competitive and we would have lap races in the pool.  He would always make sure he was the winner, even if he had to pull my trunks down during the race. Tony spent many hours manicuring his grass and yard as well as working with his solar system that heated the pool. Their yard was pristine.   During the wintertime, occasionally the pool would freeze over and Tony would put on his figure skates along with his bicycling outfit and pose like an Olympian.
