Betty will be sorely missed by her family and friends. Predeceased by her husband Ernest Pedersen and survived by their three children; (Harold, Katherine and Martin.) eight grandchildren; (Douglas, Shaylene, Mark, Annika, Jada, Bryce, Richard and Khendra). and eleven great-grandchildren.
Betty was known for her generous spirit, warm hospitality, and her calm intellectual demeanor. Even through her struggle with Alzheimer’s, Her love of family and passion for life was always evident.
Betty was born in Brooklyn, New York, and moved to North Vancouver at the age of 2. While attending UBC Betty met Ernest Pedersen, her husband of 61 years. The happy couple left the big city and with teaching degrees in hand and travelled the world. They lived in Tanzania for 4 years, Grenada for 2 and Australia for 1. In 1978 they moved to the Saanich Peninsula and bought their dream home. Betty taught at all levels of schooling with her longest position teaching ESL at Camosun College. Never able to keep still, they continued to travel plus spent many summers sailing up to Desolation sound and beyond.
A big thank you and forever grateful to the wonderful staff at Sidney Care Home who cared for her this past year.
