Carol is survived by her husband, Don McBride, her children Sheri McBride-Germain (PEI), and Scott McBride (Vancouver), and her two grandchildren, Emma Germain and Connor McBride.
Carol was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, on August 7 1939, to Viva and Clive Eaton, and sister to Marion. She attended the Winnipeg Normal School where she became a teacher. In 1959, while attending a teacher's workshop in Gimli, Manitoba, she met her future husband, Donald McBride. Their 1960 marriage began a wonderful lifetime of travel around the world with Don's military career, beginning in Baden-Baden, Germany, with postings across Canada and in England.
The frequent moves posed some challenges for the family but Carol always served as an anchor for her children and a wonderful partner and supporter of her husband. Don and Carol retired to Brentwood Bay BC in 1996 to begin their next exciting chapter in life. They walked the Galloping Goose trail, took several cruises to Hawaii and the BC islands, and then many trips to PEI to visit their grand daughter Emma, and Vancouver to keep tabs on their grandson Connor.
Carol continued her love of learning by taking courses at the University of Winnipeg, then Victoria. Her driving motivation was to never grow complacent and to make her family proud.
Carol fought her diagnosis of dementia and cancer with dignity and bravery. While the last several years were difficult she had the amazing support of Don and was able to pass in peace and grace.
