January 1951 - October 2024
With sadness we announce the passing of our father. Donald Morrison of Victoria, who passed away unexpectedly at the end of October; he was 73 years old.
Don served in the Canadian Army (Reserve) at the young age of 16 for just over a year and then went on to obtain his Journeyman Carpenter ticket. Later he worked for the Province of Alberta and when he moved to the Island he worked for many years with the City of Victoria. Don was a passionate Union Leader and Representative and spent long hours serving his fellow union members. Don retired from the City of Victoria a couple of years early after some health issues. In retirement Don spent time with his family and friends and recently found comfort in his religious studies. Don spent many nights with his grandchildren at the Victoria Royals games and loved watching the battles between the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers.
Don was predeceased by his wife, of 33 years, Sheila, who left us in March 2006. Don is also now reunited with his mother, Frances and father, Gordon as well as his 3 older brother’s Pat, Gordon and Cyril. Don is survived by his children Donna Griffiths (Todd), Elisa Gionet (Etienne), Richard Morrison, and grandchildren, Ashley & Hayley Griffiths, Jonnathan & Kaia Gionet, and Carter & Savannah Morrison, all of Victoria BC as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
Don will forever be remembered by his family and friends as a kind, caring, and non-judgmental soul.
